About the Journal

The Dutch Journal of Applied Linguistics (DuJAL)

The Dutch Journal of Applied Linguistics (DuJAL) is the official journal of the Dutch Association of Applied Linguistics (Anéla). It publishes research on (second) language use, learning, teaching and policy. It particularly values both theoretically and practically driven research that is of societal relevance. While the journal aims to be the primary venue for all applied linguistic research that is of special relevance to Dutch-speaking contexts in the Netherlands and Belgium and beyond, it also welcomes contributions that are of interest to the broader, international applied linguistics community. The journal wants to be relevant to academics working in applied linguistics, but also hopes to inspire the work of language professionals working in/on language policy, teacher training, curriculum development, assessment, and educational and communication consultancy.

DuJAL puts high value on open, transparent, and sustainable publishing practices. As of volume 8 (2019), it publishes according to the principles of diamond open access, which means that accepted articles are published under a CC BY licence free of charge. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work licensed under a CC BY 4.0 license. All DuJAL open access policies are accessible on Sherpa Romeo. In addition, DuJAL offers the possibility of sharing both research instruments and data sets with published articles, and strongly encourages submitting authors to do this.

DuJAL is a fully online journal. Articles are published continuously and appear in definitive form as soon as they are ready for publication. DuJAL strives towards fast and friendly publication practices and has a good track record of attracting early career researchers in applied linguistics to submit their work. Submissions are subjected to a double-blind review by at least two external reviewers. DuJAL welcomes contributions in Dutch and English.

DuJAL is indexed by the following services: CNKI, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Erih Plus, Glottolog, IFS Bibliographie Moderner Fremdsprachenunterricht, Lingusitics Abstracts Online. DuJAL is part of openjournals, which makes use of Portico archiving systems to ensure that publications are permanently archived.
