Abstract

This paper addresses explanation, generalizability, causality, and non-ergodicity in L2 learning through the lens of Complex Dynamic Systems Theory. We make a plea for synergy and complementarity when researching L2 learning. We argue that both group-level studies as well as longitudinal case studies with dense data continue to be needed.
